The Roseland Brewery was first set up in 2009 by landlord Phil Heslip , after many test brews 5 recipes were developed . Following a theme of birds local to Cornwall the brews were named ;
Cornish Shag ( a small cormorant ) , which is our flgship brew , containing an American developed hop Amorillo with an orange citrus undertone it is a well hopped distinctive beer .
Gullable is our summer brew made to a lighter recipe producing a golden ale again with a slightly citrus undertone but with the addition of a hop called Celia which gives it a rounded flavour . We won a bronze medal at the Falmouth Beer Festival with this Ale .
Choughed To Bits is a slightly darker and stronger ale with typically British charachteristics .
High as Kite which was developed as a Porter and is our strongest darkest ale , perfect for those winter nights .
Full Marks ( Fulmar ) really scraping the barrel for puns on birds names here !! This is our Pale Ale , light but still with our characteristic Hoppy flavour and pleasant bitterness .
After developing these brews Phil found himself too busy to devote the time required to succesfully brew and went into a liasson with Keltic Brewery of Redruth who are now brewing Roseland Brewery recipes under licence although two local lads are showing a keen interest to brew in the pubs brewery again so watch this space !
